Bowflex Selecttech 552 Dumbbells

So my dipsh*t grandson Timmy asked me to do a review of the Bowflex Selecttech 552 dumbbells he set up for me in the basement.

I’m an old guy, so i don’t need too much weight.  When i was in my late 30’s and early 40’s, i could lift more than I can today.  Back then, I would most likely need the 90 lb. Bowflex Selecttech 1090’s that go from 10-90 lbs.

Back in my day, we had good old cast iron weights and we didn’t use gloves and all the nonsense that kids these days use.  How lazy are we these days that it pains us to grab a rack full of weights and pick them up and put them down as we use different weights?  This is why kids in this country are so weak or obese.  When i was young we didn’t sit on our @sses all day and play video games.  We went outside, ran around and beat each other’s @sses when we got out of line.  It was more of a street justice mentality and it worked.  Meanwhile, I swear my grandson Timmy sits down to urinate. I’m getting off the topic, so let me get back to these weights.

This old guy would rather use the old cast iron weights, but the Bowflex Selecttech 552 dumbbells are also good if you don’t have a full dumbbell set.  You just turn the knob on each end and select a weight and BAM the weight is set.  It is fairly easy to manage, but sometimes those darn weights get stuck and they won’t come out of the plastic base.  When that happens, you have to wiggle them a little to get them loose.  I was able to fix it by removing all the plastic weight plates and re-inserting them.  It looks like maybe I didn’t put them in straight enough.  It was a pain that took me 20 minutes to figure out, but it was a breeze when i did figure out the problem.

These are great for small areas where you wouldn’t have the proper space for a full rack of weights.  The package came with a DVD that showed some of the exercises you could do with the dumbbells, but who doesn’t already know that crap?  It was a bunch of nonsense, but the new A.D.D generation needs to have someone hold their hand and walk them through how to take a dump.

I would say to buy them if you don’t have space for a full rack of dumbbells.
